Frequently asked questions
Cerebral House is a joint venture between Chawton Innovation Services and ProspectIP – two leading businesses with expertise in managing IP. Donal O’Connell and Dr Derek Palmer, from each business, are highly experienced in IP practice and in developing and delivering IP educational programmes. They have also authored numerous published papers and books on various aspects of IP.
Our programme has been created to meet the needs of academics and students at all stages of IP understanding and knowledge – from beginner to expert. It has been developed specifically for non-legal learners and will enable them to increase awareness of all aspects of IP and research commercialisation, and understand its importance in Research England’s (RE) Knowledge Exchange Framework.
Our programme covers 27 modules in a range of media formats which are delivered using your existing university e-learning management system. Learners can access the modules at their convenience and the format variety enables learner engagement to be optimised. The formats include:
- bite-sized videos with transcripts (3 to 5 minutes in length)
- PowerPoint presentations (3 to 5 minute read)
- short papers and reference guides (3 to 5 minute read)
- quizzes (maximum 30 minutes per module)
Your university will only need one licence to provide unrestricted usage (subject to the terms of a licensing agreement) for an unlimited number of users. The annual cost for a licence is £10,000 plus VAT.
Programme set-up is a straight forward process. You will be required to sign a licensing agreement and once payment has been received, we will provide you with access to the dedicated, secure Microsoft OneDrive platform. You will then be able to start uploading the files to your university e-learning management system. The files for the modules will be released on a scheduled, regular basis to support timely and consistent learning.
Our module content has been created in a range of common file formats to enable easy integration into existing university e-learning management systems – MP4, Word, PDF and PowerPoint. All files will be made available for uploading into the university e-learning system through access to a dedicated, secure Microsoft OneDrive platform. New module content will be continually added to account for any developments or changes in the world of IP.
Transcripts for all videos are available to support accessibility requirements. All other file formats are suitable for use with common screen readers.
The annual licence is £10,000 and this gives you an unlimited number of users.
